DFWKicking.com was created by Michael Reeder as a way to share his knowledge of kicking and punting with young athletes in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. While his experience at the collegiate level was primarily as a kicker, Mike also pooch punted for TCU and worked with TCU’s younger punters (and kickers) during his years as a Horned Frog. Originally a non-scholarship walk-on, he believes that his success on the field is due in large part to his dedication to practice. “I remember a couple summers where I literally kicked every day. My dad would hold and my mom, brothers and sister would shag balls for me.” All the hard work paid off when Mike became the starting kicker at TCU in 1994 and went on to become a Consensus All-American in 1995. As a teacher, Michael has worked with high school athletes and TCU kickers. Here’s what Chris Kaylakie, TCU’s starting kicker from 1998-2000, had to say about Mike during an interview with the TCU Daily Skiff “Kaylakie credits former All-American and Lou Groza Award-winning kicker Michael Reeder with helping him adjust to the college game, including switching to kicking off the ground and adjusting mentally. “Mike was great,” Kaylakie said. “We’re still friends. He taught me everything I know.” |
